At the start of the Summer Term, our Year 10 Teignmouth Scholars and Sixth Form students took part in a four-day residential visit to Paris, giving them the opportunity to experience one of Europe’s leading capitals first-hand.
During the trip, students explored the city on a guided walking tour, helping them to place their classroom learning in a real-world context. They climbed the Arc de Triomphe, gaining a clear view of the city’s layout and its historical significance, and visited the Eiffel Tower, where the clear weather allowed for impressive and memorable views across Paris.
The group also spent time in Montmartre, an area known for its artistic and cultural history, and visited the Sacré-Cœur Basilica. These experiences gave students direct exposure to French culture, architecture and daily life—an important aspect of building cultural capital that supports their wider education.
Residential trips like this help students develop independence, confidence and a broader understanding of the world beyond school. All students were a credit to the school and wider community, a fantastic experience for all.
