Exeter University Trip – November 2023
As part of our Sixth Form Enrichment programme, students have collaborated with the lower school Green Team to design and build a new environmentally friendly garden in our school. Students have reached out to the community, and we have been lucky enough to be given donations from Otter Garden Centre, Jack’s Patch and our local hardware store, Fork Handles. We have also had some wonderful tips and advice from gardening TV<img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-9294" src="https://tcs6.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Green-Team-Plan-300x225.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="225" /> <img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-9295" src="https://tcs6.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/IMG_7835.heic" alt="" width="1" height="1" /> <img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-9296" src="https://tcs6.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/IMG_7826.heic" alt="" width="1" height="1" /> <img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-9297" src="https://tcs6.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/IMG_7820.heic" alt="" width="1" height="1" /> <img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-9298" src="https://tcs6.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/IMG_7498.heic" alt="" width="1" height="1" /> <img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-9299" src="https://tcs6.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/IMG_7836.heic" alt="" width="1" height="1" /> presenters Frances Tophill and Toby Buckland on how to create our eco-friendly garden and how best to make it inviting for animals, insects, and biodiversity. Students have been busy building Bat boxes and wooden planters made from recycled pallets.
Our Eco garden and green team have also been invited to Powderham Castle's Garden Festival as special guests by Toby Buckland. We are not only planning for this garden to promote and educate our students on wildlife protection in our school, but also for the mental health and wellbeing of our students, giving them a place to enjoy nature, feel proud of their school, and take a break after classes and exams.
